Basic Nipple Bar-Tongue Barbell is a straight 14 gauge bar. It is the standard used for tongue and nipple piercings. We sell a large range of sizes, from 12 mm to 20 mm long. Nipple Bar-Tongue Barbell sizes to fit your piercing perfectly!
Tongue Piercing sizes
Your average tongue is initially pierced with an 18 mm tongue bar. This allows for swelling in the first few days. Once the risk of swelling has gone and the piercing is healed, you can down size to a 12-16 mm bar, depending on how fat your tongue is. New Zealanders often have more fat tongues. So we carry a 20 mm barbell size to allow for this.
Nipple Piercing Sizes
A man nipple generally uses a standard 12 mm or 14 mm bar
A woman nipple needs to be measured as there are a great range of sizes. If the jewellery is for an initial piercing, choose an extra 4 mm to allow for swelling.
Balls at both ends of the bar unscrew and can be replaced with any other body jewellery balls with a 14 gauge thread to add some sparkle.
Surgical Steel meaning
Both the 14 gauge bar and the balls are made from surgical steel 316L. This mean they are implant-grade surgical stainless steel – it is probably the most common and most widely used metal for body piercings. Surgical Stainless Steels (316L) are used for bone fixation screws, body pins, bone plates, staples, amongst many other applications. We do not play or gamble with your health.
If you’re wearing SS 316L jewellery and are having problems with irritation or a new piercing that just won’t heal, it is possible that you have a intolerance of surgical steel and might want to try titanium.
