They are great to keep in your wallet as a spare. The body jewellery balls are also great, as you don’t have to buy a whole new bar if you lose the ball.
Balls will screw onto any 14 gauge threaded bar that you already have. (A tip – 16 Gauge is 1.2 mm size of bar which is the thinner style and sized body jewellery bar)
Body jewellery balls are made from surgical steel 316 L. This mean they are implant-grade surgical stainless steel – it is probably the most common and most widely used metal for body piercings. What is “Surgical stainless steel”? Surgical stainless steel is an informal term which refers to certain grades of stainless steel that are used in biomedical applications. Surgical Stainless Steels (316 L) are used for bone fixation screws, body pins, bone plates, staples, amongst many other applications. We do not play or gamble with your health.
If you’re wearing SS 316 L jewellery and are having problems with irritation or a new piercing that just won’t heal, it is possible that you have a intolerance of surgical steel and might want to try titanium.
It is a good idea to soak the ball in alcohol to sterilize it, before attaching to your bar.
